TOURNAMENT RULES
REGISTRATION IS DUE BY APRIL 4, 2025
DIVISION INFORMATION
- Game Day: APRIL 26, 2025
- Duration of Tournament: 8am -5pm.
- Two divisions – standard & elite.
- 40 teams per division.
- This will be an elimination tournament with a 1st and 2nd place winner.
- Ages: 14-18 years old.
- The league is co-rec; meaning young men and young women can play. Keep this in mind when choosing your teams and the division.
UNIFORMS
- All teams must create their own team names and their own jerseys. We promote creativity!
- The team’s name cannot be inappropriate or vulgar. The jerseys cannot have inappropriate images or words displayed. For
example, no violent language, gruesome or disgusting imagery or degrading racial slurs. No inappropriate images such as nudity or promotion of violence or images of guns. - All players must have the same uniforms/shirts. No costumes or masks.
- Teams are encouraged to have reversible uniforms in the event both teams have the same colors, but it’s not mandatory.
- Each team will show the tournament staff their uniforms at the check in booth. If the Tournament Staff considers uniform to be
against the rules, then we will ask the team to find a new uniform before their first game. Or they will have to forfeit their game.
CAPTAINS
- Team captains are considered the coach of the team.
- Captains will be the person responsible for communicating to our personnel - including court monitors
SCORING
- Scoring is 1 and 2 points. One point will be scored for each basket shot from within the 3-point arc; shots from behind the 3-point arc counting as 2 points.
- The first team to score 15 points wins or the team with the highest score after 20 minutes wins.
- If it’s a tie at the 20-minute mark, then continue the game and the next basket wins the game.
- The court monitor is the person keeping score to ensure the competition is fair.
GAMEPLAY
- Game play is half court.
- Teams will shoot from behind the 3-point arc to determine who starts with possession of the ball.
- After a basket, out- of- bounds, violation, or foul, the offense must “check” the ball with their opponent before play resumes and the ball must be passed to start play. There are no free throws.
- The team scoring a basket retains possession of the ball. (Winner's outs)
- If the ball hits rim and the other team rebounds the ball, that team must take it back behind the 3-point arc before attempting a shot. If a team scores a basket without taking the ball back, the basket will be disallowed, and the offending team will forfeit their possession.
- Players must call fouls and violations as necessary to keep the game under control. If there is a dispute about the call, the team who called the violation must shoot for it. If they make it, they keep the ball. If they miss the other team gets the ball.
- The Intramural Staff are the only administrators for the games. They will not call fouls or violations unless necessary. If a Staff member calls an excessive contact intentional foulor a technical foul, the penalty will be 1 point for the offended team and they will keep the ball and resume game with a check.
- The Intramural Staff may remove a player from a contest without warning if the player is behaving inappropriately. All decisions by the Intramural Staff are final.
- There is no stalling allowed. All held balls are awarded to the defense first then they alternate for example on a jump ball or trying to stall to conserve time.
- Substitutions may be made at anytime that play is stopped.
- Teams are awarded one 30 secondtime-out per game.
- Game time is forfeit time. A team must have 3 players to start the game. A team may not “pick up” players not on their team. After a game, the winning team must report back to the bracket booths to provide their winning ticket to the staff on duty and check the schedule for the time of their next game.
